About me and the workshop
I've been curious about how guitars are made since I first picked one up as a teenager.
At 18 I studied guitar building at Merton College London and started learning luthiery. After the course I was lucky to work for several fine furniture and interior makers, which sharpened my craft, Interestingly many luthiers I know also began as cabinet makers.
Begining a buisness
After years as an in‑house tech at a local shop, I launched my own repair and guitar‑making business, a teenage dream made real. I began during the April 2020 lockdown and, after tough months, moved into my first workshop at Symondshyde Farm. I love learning; every few months a client brings a new challenge that pushes me to learn and refine techniques. I always aim for the best result for each customer.
Building guitars and upgrading the workshop
After several years in my first workshop (3×4m room)
It was apparent that in order to improve the quality of guitars and repairs I would need a larger space.
Luckily the unit downstair had just come up for rent, which was perfect.
In here I could begin properly investing in all the facets of what makes a shop tick, from a Spray shop, dedicated repair room, wood shop, and space for tools I finally felt like I could begin the journey.
